Our Story

From Log Cabins to CLT High-Performance Buildings

ZTC was founded in 1991 in Jelgava district, Latvia — one of Europe's most forested countries, where over 50% of the territory is covered by sustainably managed woodland. We started by producing small milled log cabins, learning the material from the inside out.

Over three decades, we evolved alongside the timber construction industry. As engineering advanced, so did we — moving from log structures to precision-manufactured panel systems and, eventually, to cross-laminated timber (CLT) technology. Today, we operate both a Hundegger CNC panel production line and an in-house CLT press under one roof — a combination very few European manufacturers can offer.

Our journey took us from local Latvian projects to construction sites across Scandinavia, Western Europe and beyond. Each new market taught us something: Norwegian building codes, Swiss precision standards, Dutch architectural ambition, Swedish energy requirements. That accumulated knowledge is now built into every project we deliver.

We are not a startup experimenting with timber. We are a manufacturer with 30 years of solved problems.

Company Timeline

1991

Founded in Jelgava district, Latvia. First products: milled log cabins.

Mid-1990s

Transition to prefabricated timber frame panel production. First export deliveries.

2000s

Expansion into Scandinavian markets. Norway and Sweden become core export destinations. Factory equipment upgraded to industrial-scale panel production.

2010s

Introduction of Hundegger CNC technology. Precision manufacturing reaches ±1mm tolerance. First multi-unit residential and public building projects. Growing portfolio in Netherlands, Belgium, Switzerland, France, Ireland.

2019

CE marking achieved for building kits under European Technical Assessment ETA-21/0014. Full Eurocode compliance.

2020s

In-house CLT press installed. ZTC becomes one of the few Baltic manufacturers offering both timber frame panels and CLT from a single factory. First CLT + timber frame hybrid projects delivered.

2023

Latvian Construction Annual Award — recognition in "Wood Construction" category.

2025

Continued expansion into Scandinavian multi-unit and public building segments. Active deliveries to 15+ European countries.

The Factory

Inside Our Factory

Everything we deliver starts here — in our production facility in Jelgava district, Latvia, 40 km from Riga. Both timber frame panels and CLT elements are manufactured under one roof, giving us complete control over quality, scheduling and the hybrid combinations that set us apart.

Hundegger CNC Line

Every structural element is cut, drilled and milled by Hundegger CNC machines — the industry standard for precision timber processing. Drawings go directly from engineering software (SEMA) to the CNC, eliminating manual error.

The result: ±1mm tolerance on every element. Panels arrive on site ready to assemble. No on-site adjustments. No wasted material. No wasted hours.

CLT Press

Our in-house CLT press produces cross-laminated timber panels up to 13,800 × 3,100 × 400mm — among the largest panel formats available from Baltic manufacturers.

Panels are made from spruce boards glued in alternating perpendicular layers using formaldehyde-free polyurethane adhesive. 3, 5, or 7 layer configurations available.

Panel Assembly & Insulation

Timber frame panels are insulated in factory-controlled conditions using cellulose (Isofloc) or wood fibre insulation — ecological materials that provide excellent thermal performance and a healthy indoor climate.

Windows, facade cladding and utility conduits can be factory-fitted before shipping, depending on the project specification.

Engineering & Design

Our engineering team works in SEMA — the industry-standard timber construction software used across Europe. Every project is modelled in 3D before a single board is cut.

Structural integrity verified before production. Panel lists generated automatically. CNC instructions created directly from the model.

Logistics

Panels are loaded in assembly sequence — what comes off the truck first goes up first. On a construction site where crane time costs €800-1,500 per day, organized delivery saves thousands of euros.

Typical delivery: Latvia → Norway ~3 days, Sweden ~2 days, Netherlands ~4 days, Switzerland ~5 days.

How We Work

Personal Approach. Industrial Precision.

We are a manufacturer, not a corporation. When you work with ZTC, you talk to the people who engineer and build your project — not to a call centre.

Every project begins with a conversation. We need to understand your requirements, your timeline and your constraints before we propose anything. We don't sell catalogue houses — we engineer solutions that fit your specific project.

Fixed price

The contract price is the final price. No material escalation clauses. No surprise surcharges. Your financial model is safe with us.

Direct communication

One project manager from start to finish. You will know their name, their phone number, and their email. Questions get answered in hours, not weeks.

Transparent process

You know what we're building, when it ships, and when it arrives. Production updates on request. No black boxes.

Accountability

We don't disappear after delivery. Warranty support, documentation, and post-project consultation are part of the package.

Certifications

Certifications & Standards

CE / ETA (European Technical Assessment)

ETA-21/0014, issued 2019. Our building kits carry CE marking, confirming compliance with harmonized European construction standards and Eurocodes. Valid for all EU/EEA markets.

Latvijas Koka Būvniecības Klasteris

Member of the Latvian Wood Construction Cluster — a network of leading Latvian timber construction companies collaborating on quality standards, innovation and international market development.

LTRK (Latvian Chamber of Commerce)

Member of LTRK, confirming ZTC's standing as a registered, transparent and professionally managed business entity.

FSC / PEFC Certified Timber

We source timber from responsibly managed forests. FSC or PEFC certified material available on request, depending on project requirements.
